Our changing energy needs

Wednesday Mar 09, 2022

Wednesday Mar 09, 2022

Welcome to the 12th series of the DNV Talks Energy podcast, hosted by Mathias Steck, Service Area Manager, Renewables Northern Europe, DNV. In the previous series, we focused on the role of businesses and policymakers in driving the energy transition forward. But the true impact of the move to clean energy is one felt by people and communities across the globe, and those same people also play a vital role in helping the world meet its carbon targets. The transition cannot be achieved only through technological innovation. It requires people-centric solutions and a more inclusive approach.

In the last series we explored energy agendas from an affordability, equity and social justice perspective. In this eight-episode series, we explore the human impact of the energy transition and the role that individuals and communities play within our shared global responsibility.

Wednesday Oct 27, 2021

COP26 is a once in a generation moment. To meet the Paris Climate Agreement targets, emissions must halve by 2030 to meet a 1.5ºC future, but DNV forecasts they will fall by just 9%, and that the world will already exhaust the 1.5ºC budget in 2029.
In this episode Mathias Steck - Service Area Renewables Northern Europe at DNV, is joined by DNV experts, Al-Karim Govindji, Head of Public Affairs Energy Systems, Hari Vamadevan, Senior Vice President, Regional Director UK & Ireland, and Sverre Alvik, Programme Director for the Energy Transition research programme in looking ahead to COP26. They’ll examine what’s on the agenda for the conference, what the key issues facing world leaders are and what outcomes we can expect from this important summit.
